U.S. objectives: clear the heliport and the palace of OPFOR units
OPFOR force: infantry battalion
OPFOR objectives: occupy area, repel the invasion
General Saputto, the dictator of the Santa Banana Archipelago (never heard of it?), is holding a group of tourists (mostly american) in hostage. He plans to use them to lift the economical embargo on his country. A US Navy amphibious assault task force has anchored in the archipelago.
Intelligence reports that the hostage are held in one of Saputto's palaces on a (very)
small island. The island is defended by the elite Republican "Brigade" (actually a battalion) of General Saputto. A USMC team will storm the island and attempt to rescue the hostages while diplomats are gaining time.
The US player must clear the palace (the building in the jungle on the eastern end of the island) of OPFOR units and rescue the hostages. The heliport must also be cleared to allow transport helicopters to land and evacuate the hostages. Ships will provide some artillery support and some Harriers onboard the helicopter carrier are also available.
Solitaire suitability: the OPFOR role is mostly static and can be left to the control of the computer. The US side has no order and requires a human player.
Rules of engagement: both players may reposition their units wherever they wants but the US unist must be placed close to the edge (any) of the map. The US player must land on level 0 (mostly the south beach) since the island is supposed to be surrounded by a vertical cliff on most of its periphery. The US player MUST NOT use air raid or ship guns (60 mm mortars are okay but Cobra's rockets are not) on the palace.
